Raven felt that though, they were now relaxed, they still didn't trust him. Rightly so he guessed, he had almost killed the both of them. He was still wondering what he was going to do, he didn't trust Ryune anymore. Something was amiss, something big was going to happen soon, something bad.

"Same" He pulled up his sleeve on his left, mechanical arm. "I was hoping, that well, you would let me act as your bodyguard until you recover. That is, if you could stand me being here" He said shyly.

[ooc] This is on its way to becoming the longest and most-drawn-out segment of the FFHaven RP to date. =P I'll be trying to get back to the main plot (Astolorian War) as soon as I possibly can. Apologies to Artemis, but you haven't been here enough to get some non-fighting action in this lull period, so I'm taking the reins again. Perhaps we can get some in the next break. [/ooc]

Iri - House of Healing (Room)

Payne looked at the mechanical arm as Raven uncovered it. He didn't remember the events that had passed that day too clearly due to his collapse, but he remembered his fight with Raven as clearly as he wanted to. They had both tested their limits that day.

"I was hoping that, well, you would let me act as your bodyguard until you recover."

Eden looked at Raven quizzically. "Bodyguard?"

Payne remained silent. A striking realization overcame him: in his condition, he wasn't adequate to protect Eden. Realistically, he could force himself to stand up and escort her to the temple due to the lack of fiends, but if someone tried to mug them...

But, at the same time, could he trust this man? It hadn't even been a proper day yet since they were at each other's throats... what if he were to try to take advantage of his weakness?

"I won't allow--"

"You are welcome to stay with us," Eden interrupted Payne.

"E-Eden?!" he sputtered.

Eden looked over at Payne critically. "I feel that I can trust him," she said seriously. "Besides, I can protect myself too, you know," she said, smiling.

Payne frowned, but slowly sank back down in his bed. He scolded himself for being too easily defeated by that determined smile of hers.

"...Fine," he said at last, closing his eyes.

Raven watched as Eden disarmed Payne with a simple smile, he was to protect her. She said she trusted him, this made him feel better. He slightly blushed even, he shook himself of it. Quickly. He glanced over at Payne, he knew he didn't trust him, but he and Raven knew he would have too. He wanted to reassure him, that he wasn't going to harm Eden but Raven felt even he said, words were just words and meant nothing to soemone like Payne.

"Thank you" was all that Raven said, quietly.

Xadako hesitated for a moment before answering any of Sky's questions.

"I haven't had any direct contact with Shinra, only one of their members. Ouka. Don't concern yourself with that. I merely ask for your alliance. We plan on executing anyone working for Shinra to achieve world peace. They are in the way of our plans right now. I offer you my aid until they're all gone, but Ouka stays with us." She knew this would bring up questions from anyone who heard, "Do't worry, she's not a spy. We have the same deal that I'm trying to make with you. She'll leave when the rest are gone."

Iri - Phoenix River Inn (Basement)

Sky struggled with this concept for a bit. "We... as in the Consortium Cuore, right?"

He wondered what their plans were, but didn't question them: he was in dire need for soldiers. At the same time, it sounded as if they would kill Shinra employees indiscriminately. He didn't know exactly what it was, but he didn't like it. He wasn't a fan of killing all of those men in the Capital, and he certainly didn't want to wipe anyone employed by the corporate giant to be wiped clean of the planet. It wasn't as if everyone employed by the company was a monster; many people who worked for Shinra did so only to make ends meet and to keep their families from starving. Those were the men he regretted killing. At the same time... how does one distinguish the honest men from the monsters?

"Sounds enticing," he said at last. "Surely there's a catch, no?"

Xadako smiled a little.

"Yes, Consortium Cuore. I give you my word that we will offer our aid whenever you need it, but only until Shinra is no more. Then we can continue with our other plans, and you yours. Is it a deal?"

She held out both of her hands to hold Sky's, not for a handshake, but for so she could see his palms. She stared for a while, smiled again, then held out her right hand for a handshake.

Sky was puzzled a bit at Xadako's behavior, but shrugged it off: he had seen stranger things before.

Seeing no harm in the deal, Sky extended his hand and took Xadako's. "Sounds like a plan," he said. "We were really hurting for soldiers, so you couldn't have come at a better time," he explained, smiling.

"If you're ready for the next mission, stick around town: I plan on having a meeting sometime tomorrow to brief everyone on what we plan to do."

[ooc] A forewarning: a slight amount of god-modding is in here, but due to the lack of activity in this particular lull period, Abbey and I have decided that jump-starting the thread into some action sequences again would be in our favor. Sorry Arty, but you weren’t on hardly at all during the lull period, and I apologize for cutting any sub-plots short. I will make sure to leave Artemis in Iri (she left the Inn at night and was not spotted by anyone) so you can continue the sub-plots if you wish. This also puts her in a situation that will avoid as many plot-holes as possible. [/ooc]

Iri

The rest of the night was fairly quiet in the Phoenix River Inn, with the exception of the late arrival of the two demons and their pursuer. Yawgmoth and Netheroth had returned mysteriously in the middle of the night, covered in blood, though no wounds were visible. CJ was nowhere to be found.

Sky awoke early the next morning with a cold sweat. He had suffered through another dream similar to the one he witnessed when he had touched the Shimmering Slasher. They were becoming more and more frequent, it seemed, and he was disturbed by the images in them: the summoner, the fayth, and Yozora. Each time he tried to avoid the eventual catastrophe, but each time he failed. It was as if it were a futile effort, and it was creeping him out.

He decided to get a drink.

Venturing upstairs, he found Eden, Payne, and Mirage walking in through the doorway. Apparently the three had come to some kind of deal; the tension between them was gone, and Payne’s arms were draped across their shoulders on either side. It was a rather shocking sight. He hadn’t expected Payne to be able to so much as nod his head for weeks, yet here he was standing (for the most part) on his own two feet. Clearly, he wasn’t one to let weakness show. There was something strange about Iri; perhaps it was the elves that once populated every corner of the village, but it seemed as if wounds healed faster within its borders. Sky had ventured here many times after a hard battle, and it was this particular inn that he stayed at. It was through those recuperating times that he had developed a relationship with the innkeeper, for which he was very grateful now.

Sky chatted with the group over a hard drink for a while before showing them the hidden basement area of the inn. It wasn’t long before everyone woke and began prodding him for answers.

“Alright,” he said confidently at last, “here’s our target.” He pulled a pointer from the small shelf that sat beneath the large canvas map that spanned almost the entire wall. “Mako 11!”

—End of Thread—
