I don't think eradication is the optimal word. Something more along the lines of Possible Eradication, or impending eradication. But blatant destruction isn't what we're going for.

Remission n. A lessening of intensity or degree; abatement.
or
The period during which the symptoms of a disease abate or subside.
(among several other meanings)
