Yawgmoth, who had remained silent throughout the erratic converstion, finally through back his hood and spoke. "If all of you are quite finished I believe I have something to say that will be to your liking." With that said, Yawgmoth paused for a moment, looking around to make sure he was being listened to. "I can get us through that barrier, and as for the Shinra force, well, between Artemis's force, us, and the machine...."

"four things, what barrier, why is it so bad, how can we get past and, can someone take my hand. " cj said as fast as he could and in one breath (which isn't hard for someone who doesn't breath.) and pointed fixidly at the disembodied hand, that was just sitting there doing absolutely nothing. To cj, offering your favorite hand was the same as giving any other gift, so the fact no one took it, confused him.

Yawgmoth glared at C.J. in frustration bordering on rage as the man expressed his ignorance, after a moment of silence, he answered. "Can you not see it?! Do you have no sense!?" Here Yawgmoth calmed himself down and finished his response. "The barrier is right over there, behind you, and it's bad because it bars our way, if that is simple enough for you." At the same time, in a conversation that interested him more, he said telepathically, in a faint echo of the deep voice his mind once spoke in that seemed to fill your mind, "There is something wrong with you, Sky, just as there is something wrong with me. I can see it in the way you bend to the weight of your weapon, and in your stance. I can feel it in your aura, and in your troubled mind. You are not now the warrior you once were, much like myself. I see that you already noticed my weakness, or at least one of it's effects...." After this he finished his answer to C.J.'s burst of questions by picking his hand up off of the ground.

Northern Capital- Outer City

An internal battle raged inside Sky. A conciousness he didn't know truely existed was fighting for control again. He began to wonder what else had happened to him before he washed up on the beach. Had Shinra done something to him?

A face flashed in his mind. Over the past few days, he'd learned not to dismiss these things. He stared at it every time it came back to him, which it was doing at an alarming rate.

"The Great Sephiroth..." Sky found himself muttering.

No, damnit, no...

Sky regained focus, but his sword was still very heavy.

"Sephiroth is here. This isn't good, we should hurry," he instructed.

Another image flashed across his mind... a large group of soldiers fighting one figure...

Sky's eyes got huge.

"KOS-MOS is on the other side of the barrier, fighting off the soldiers gathered there!"

He frantically looked around.

"We need to get that damned barrier down or she's not going to make it!"

"I could have told you that", said Yawgmoth, slightly surprised at Sky's shocked reaction, "and was about to before I was interupted by this", he said holding up C.J.'s hand. "None of that happens to be important however", he said in an unusually(for him) calm voice, "What is important is that I can get us through that barrier, but if Sephiroth is truly there you know very well that none of us have the strength to do battle with him."

Kane cocked his head to the side, hearing something. After a few seconds, he recognized the sound as footsteps, and a lot of them, heading this way. He didn't even begin to think about how his keen hearing was a fairly recent trait.

"Less talking, more action," He said suddenly. "There are people coming this way, and I don't suspect they are friendly."

As if to agree, several Shinra soldiers rounded the corner a few blocks down, and upon seeing the group, turned towards them and raised there guns.

Behind the SOLDIERS came a figure on a black chocobo. They ran as fast as they could, as if not realizing what was happening in front of them. Their face was covered, but everyone could tell that the rider was female. She trampled a few SOLDIERS, then turned around. She looked at the non-SOLDIERS and pointed in her direction of origin, as if to say that it was a safe way to go. She then ran off quickly in the opposite direction, towards the other SOLDIERS.

[ooc] Note that most of these will be Shinra Soldiers, rather than the elite SOLDIERs, considering the force was unprepared. However, there may be a few SOLDIERs scattered here and there. I've decided that Shinra should have it's own soldiers like in FFVII. SOLDIER is an elite group, Shinra Soldiers are the ones you see all the time in blue. [/ooc]

Northern Capital Area

KOS-MOS was fighting off the soldiers the best she could, but they were gaining ground on her. They were now within range of the end of her gun and she began clubbing soldiers with the barrels while firing through them at the same time. The sight was gruesome, but it did not last long. One of the few SOLDIER captains rushed her from the side, striking her in the side with his blade. It did considerable damage, but not enough to knock KOS-MOS from the fight. She dropped the gatling gun and it dissipated as she switched her good hand into the energy blade and began swinging wildly at the SOLDIER. They attacked and blocked with quick succession, but KOS-MOS was clearly faster as she began to move the SOLDIER backwards. However, none of the Shinra Soldiers came to his aid- they had bigger problems to worry about.

The group from the Trail del Sol was upon them faster than they had anticipated, forcing them to draw their lances and blades and begin fighting off this ragtag force of criminals- most accused of political crimes and terrorism. No side had a particular advantage, and it quickly became nothing but a bloody massacre of both sides.

Northern Capital- Outer City

Sky looked at the soldiers, and he felt strength fill his body. He couldn't restrain this consciousness any longer, and his eyes glowed fiery red as he placed both hands on the handle of his blade and prepared to crush the soldiers. However, he saw something and his eyes grew wide.

A small bead of light similar to the one emitted from the barrier appeared between the group and the soldiers. It slowly grew in diameter and glowed brighter until it touched the ground. Then, a black boot appeared and the menacing figure of Sephiroth stepped through the circle of light. It slowly shrank behind him until nothing was left, as abruptly as it had appeared.

"Ha ha ha..." Sephiroth laughed as he faced the soldiers. He raised his arm and quickly extended it, and the entire block the soldiers were on was engulfed in flame.

He slowly turned around and swung his blade in front of him and looked at Sky. He chuckled.

"Long time no see."

Sky said nothing and walked slowly toward Sephiroth. He screamed with rage and swung his powerful blade at Sephiroth. Sephiroth's figure turned bright white and faded away as he materialized just to the right of Sky's attack.

"Bastard!" Sky yelled.

CJ was having a moment of deep philosophical uncertainty, or at least thats how he thought of it. These soldiers, these people, pretty everything that had happened to him that day, we're completely new. Yet for some reason, he hated the soldiers. More like, he was suppose to hate them he reasoned with himself, as he avoid harboring enimities (people who hate you are poor sources of income.) Still as his body was assaulted by the soldiers due to his that fact he avoided avoiding things when necessary, and while the most concious part of his brain was focusing on undoing the damage dealt to him, he felt uncharacteristically colder, and more black hearted than he normally would. Still he resisted them , but did not fight.

Then he noticed the mysterious silver hair, who apparated, that the almost dead guy seemed to dislike. And another emotion fled over him, sort of a distant like, need to help, Pity, that was it he reasoned with himself. CJ had known pity before, although only to injured animals. Again, it wasn't really himself piting, just the urge to pity. There was something wrong with the silver, somehow caused by the soldiers he reasoned again. Had he had any memories beyond his awakening, they probably would've returned to him, but alas, they did not exist.

CJs latent overdrive kicked in as his body dimmed into a darker shade as the soldiers efforts to remove him became non-existant (as far as he could tell) He than began to slowly but recklessly, fight back against the soldiers, still trying to figure these feelings out.

" Pretty bloody timing for these things to come out." he said to himself.

Yawgmoth knew that there was something important he was about to do. Even when the enemy soldiers came at them and the familiar red haze began to dominate his thoughts, even then he seemed to remember something. But when Sephiroth appeared and the battle actually started it didn't seem to matter anymore. The only thing that actually seemed to matter was that he was surrounded by souls, all of them screaming for him take them. Yawgmoth just stood there staring blankly into the approaching group of soldiers and willing gave his mind to the all consuming urge to kill. When the last piece of coherent thought was finally washed away he snapped his head back, shrieking with insane laughter and suddenly vanished, reappering at the back of the group of soldiers. The next second a very unfortunate private screamed with the last of his breath as his body was torn violently in half by Yawgmoth's blade.

"Ha ha ha..." Sephiroth laughed as Sky yelled. He then swung his blade at Sky with incredible speed- a blow that would have struck any ordinary person dead before they knew Sephiroth had attacked. Instead, Sky's blade had deflected the blow. Sky thrusted upward, throwing Sephiroth's arm back. Sephiroth quickly countered this maneuver and brought his blade back down on Sky, but the blow was deflected again. Sephiroth swung again with quick succession, but none of the blows did damage. He jumped back and brought his blade back down to his side and stared through Sky. Sky said nothing and grasped his blade again with both hands.

"Hm. So you're the undocumented one," Sephiroth said.

Sky felt his body flood with strength and the consciousness began to take over. He yelled as he rushed Sephiroth, swinging faster than anyone had seen him do before. Sephiroth was slowly losing ground but was still able to fight Sky off with one hand on his massive blade. Sephiroth quickly extended his left arm and a forceful blow of unseen energy knocked Sky to his knees.

Sephiroth didn't laugh this time. "You are not going to stop me," he said as he brought his blade forward. "I have been chosen by the planet, and you- rejected." Sephiroth brought his blade down upon Sky.

Sky quickly reached up and grasped the blade with both hands and began swinging it back and forth. A look of surprise flashed across Sephiroth's face. With a final tug, Sky wrenched the blade free of Sephiroth's hands and it flew behind him. Sky looked down at his hands, deeply severed by the blade. Fresh blood ran from them- a sight he hadn't seen in years. Two pyreflies escaped from his palms as he closed them. They floated around him for a while, then drifted off towards the sky- floating through the barrier effortlessly.

Kane ran down a side street, two soldiers appearing at the end. Before they saw him, he had unsheathed his swords, ran past them, and sliced the throat on the left and the belly on the right. They dropped quickly. Kane was drawn to the sounds of battle off in the distance.

He hadn't been to this city before, but something seemed odd. He didn't expect so much fighting from something so predominately controlled by the Shinra. Something must have happened.

Rude punched one of the del Sol escapees squarely in the face, then dodged as another swung a sword from the left. he quickly dived forward and shoulder-slammed the escapee in the stomach.

He turned to see his other men still fighting, but barely holding their defensive formations. He could see fighting even farther out. He was about to turn and chase after another escapee, when he spotted a solitary figure battling shinra troops and moving towards his position.

The figure was wielding two glowing swords.

Ouka leaned back completely on her chocobo, pulled out her pistols and began to unleash ammo into all the SOLDIERs following her. She killed a few, then started tunning again. She put them away and took her Gauss rifle and took a shot, watching as one of the soldiers is reduced to twitching legs. She reloads and runs, throws the gun onto her shoulder and shoots again, then, deafened, has the chocobo jump over a fence and exits the city, returning to her forest.

Northern Capital Area

KOS-MOS quickly pushed the SOLDIER up against the barrier and swung with a mighty blow that made him stumble backwards- directly into the glowing green barrier. He stood with his back against it, being electrified with a stronger current than could be found anywhere else on the Planet. KOS-MOS swung again and knocked him free of the barrier. He flew a few feet and collapsed in a heap, dead.

She looked up to the top of the dome-like barrier and saw the two pyreflies float through it and off into the distance.

Northern Capital- Outer City

Sephiroth looked at the man in front of him, eyes closed and head bowed.

"How dare you stand in my way!" he yelled.

Sky jumped up and brought his fist crashing into the jaw of Sephiroth, sending Sephiroth spinning and stumbling toward a building where he gathered himself again. Sky had picked up his katana again and was rushing Sephiroth. He turned away and raised his hand and pointed its palm at Sky. Sky stopped a few inches away from Sephiroth. Sephiroth gathered his hands at his side and then thrust them towards Sky. An incredible blow of unseen force blasted Sky in the stomach and sent him crashing into one of the brick buildings on the side of the road. Several bricks feel from the roof and covered Sky. Sephiroth then raised his hand and brought his masamune back to him.

Sephiroth looked at the group of Rebels fighting off the Shinra soldiers. With a swift motion of his arm, he disappeared into thin air.

Northern Capital- Detention Center

"God damnit, let me out of this shithole!" Cloud screamed, rattling the bars of his cell rigorously.

Cloud heard quick footsteps in the distance. These were not men's footsteps- they were the light and gentle steps of a woman. He rattled the bars harder.

"S-Stop!" said the girl as she came forward out of the darkness. She was breathing heavily and had her hands up. Cloud said nothing as he looked into her eyes.

"What is it now- Eden, let's go," said the voice of a man who came from behind Eden. He frowned at Cloud and adjusted the mysterious gun which covered much of his right hand.

Eden turned around and looked her guardian in the eyes, almost in tears. "Payne... we must help him..."

Cloud half expected Payne to turn around and hit Eden as his eyes narrowed and he stared at the ground. He went back to adjusting his gun.

"Please!" she begged.

Payne pulled a lever on his gun and it made a loud click as several different parts clicked into place. He turned and started to walk back into the darkness.

"Stand back."

Cloud squinted through the darkness and tried to figure out where Payne had gone. Suddenly, a bright blue light pierced through the darkness of the detention center and Cloud saw the beam of energy coming from Payne's gun just in time. He ducked and the beam tore through the bars of his cell just above his head. Cloud raised his head when the beam died down and saw a huge opening carved in the bars of his cell. He carefully stepped over the smoldering remains of the bars and exited the cell.

"We don't have time to be wasting," Payne said, clicking his gun into a different mode again. "Let's keep moving."
