RP Name: Ater Atra Atrum (Unum)
RP Level: A
Genre: Realism
Plot:

The assassin group Immortalis has signed an agreement with a client. Their job is to assault the mansion of the Marquis Jean-Paul III. He is an investor in a scientific research project that is producing terrifying chemical weapons. It has been rumored that he has been selling the canisters to terrorists. Immortalis' goal is to infiltrate the mansion and kill the Marquis and all of his men. It is imperative that they leave no trace of themselves behind.

The Marquis, however, caught wind of this plot and has hired his own assasin group, Propugnatoris. They are the sworn enemy of Immortalis, and the individuals that make up either group have had their share of issues with the other group. Propugnatoris' goal is to prevent the infiltration of the mansion and to eliminate all of Immortalis' men. They must also protect the Marquis' personal guard and leave no trace of themselves behind. It is planned to make it seem as if the Marquis' personal guard killed the Immortalis' agents, so at least one member of the guard must survive the engagement.

World Map:

The mansion has four levels, not including the basement. The Marquis resides in the only room on floor four.

The third floor contains a large library full of pricey books. The shelving is elaborate and should provide good cover for either group. The Marquis would appreciate being able to have all of his books in tact. The Instigator for Propugnatoris is on this floor by the elevator.

The second floor is a large, indoor garden. Many exotic plants grow on this floor as well as several large and small trees. With the lights off, stealth is of the essence on this level, as both groups will attack using sound to locate the enemy.

The ground floor has two large pools after an elaborately decorated (think old paintings and a huge chandelier) foyer. The central elevator is located in the foyer, but it is likely to be taken offline by Propugnatoris. There is not much cover on the ground floor, so taking the enemy by surprise is the goal for Immortalis.

Instigators

The instigator for Propugnatoris is in charge of giving tactical information to the members of that group. He has access to all of the security cameras as well as schematics for the whole building. He is essentially the leader behind the scenes for Propugnatoris. It is unknown if he is armed.

The instigator for Immortalis is in charge of planning the attack on the mansion. He will respond to the information given to him by the members of his group and plan their attacks accordingly. He has access to the schematics of the building. He is lightly armed and is likely to engage in the battle.

The idea behind this RP has been sitting in my head for a while, and after watching some of Noir (great anime btw), I decided to create a sign-up sheet for this. This RP is unique in the sense that I will actually use the groups system for this. The members of each group will only be able to see their own board. I will act as a mediator and will be able to see both boards. I will be responsible as instigator to inform both teams of where to attack. I will be responsible as mediator to inform both teams of the results of their battles. This RP will be highly realistic. No member of either group is wearing armor, so well placed shots from a pistol can be deadly.

I have not decided my stance on characters yet. We likely don't have enough people to have five on either team, so I might let each person control two agents of the same team in order to make the fight last longer.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Want to sign up? Post here.

Hmm, this looks interesting, but I'm not entirely sure how it works.

If I read it right. each group would have its own board, and would be unable to see the other group's board. Also, interaction with the other group is done only through the mediator, right?

This could definitely be fun, but certainly difficult.

I would think RP level would be A instead of M/A.

But hey, sign me up. Do we pick a team, or are they assigned? I also assume character sheets go in the "Other RP" character board, yes?

Dude. You took my idea.

Didn't you? *giggles and pokes Sky*

Well, good for you! I would have never actually gone through with it, because, (as we discussed [Wow. A year ago already?]) the moderation requirements are insane! But I'm glad you're trying it, because the idea is amazing.

I'll sign up, but give me a day or so for a character. Also, I'd be happy to help moderate if you want, as I feel some responsibility for you getting yourself into this (Though I'm sure you'll enjoy it).

(That probably all came out wrong. BLAGH).

Hey, this seems really interesting. Sign me up! But I'm not sure what you mean by seeing only one board? Like one thread? You might have to explain that to me a little better, because I'm clueless. But yea, I'd definitely love to try this.
Do you want us to post characters now?

Exactly. Each group can fully see all of the members of their group's movements, weapon choices, and strategies. Interaction with the other group will be done through the mediator.

Say, for example, your character's name is John. You RP something like this:

John wrote:
John carefully checks his pistol as he stands with his back to the wall next to the door to the foyer. Silencer... check. Extra ammo... He pats his pocket on the inside of his jacket. ...check.

He motions to the other two men to follow in after him as quickly as possible. Turning to the door, he swiftly opens it and slides in feet first, pistol blazing.

I, as the mediator, would then relay this message to the opposite team.

Mediator wrote:
Suddenly, the door flies open and a man slides in feet first. He manages to get off several shots at the counter directly in front of the door, but manages only to graze one of the Marquis' guard's arms.

Basically, you role play as you normally would and it seems as if the mediator is role playing as all of the enemies. There are no auto-hit attacks as usual, and the mediator will generally decide the damage of attacks, as I did in that quote.

KaneInferno wrote:

I actually agree. *fixes*

KaneInferno wrote:

You are allowed to pick a team, but you may be reassigned if they end up unbalanced when I decide to start.

As far as character sheets go, you can post them, but I'm not too concerned with it. Seeing as your character can (and likely will) die, creating a large backstory may be a waste of time. This is more of a faceless clan battle and this experiment will likely serve as the basis for the clan system when we finally integrate it.

I didn't remember where the idea came from, but I remember talking with you and Yawgmoth about it a year ago. I think it was more of an idea on how we'd do clan battles, but I might be totally wrong.

Switch wrote:

Seriously, don't put a lot of time into the characters. One or two will probably be left standing at the end of the battle. =P

Switch wrote:

I'll keep that in mind. I think I can handle this one, but I might call on you for help if it starts getting overwhelming.

What I mean by seeing only one board is this: See how FFHaven has it's own sub-forum? That's how I'm going to do this. There will be two sub-forums in the Other RPs category, one for Immortalis and one for Propugnatoris. You will only see one of the two. There might be more than one thread within the board (perhaps a sticky with the building schematics and weapon choices).

As far as posting characters goes, that's fine, but I'm actually going to be incredibly lax on character sheets. Like I said above, the characters aren't likely to survive the battle and certainly won't be revived once killed, so a lot of backstory would be wasted with good character sheets. If you don't get around to posting one, that's fine. The main idea here is the fighting rather than character development. Character development is fine and makes reading the threads more interesting for your group, but it certainly is not required.

I think the idea came first from us discussing sci-fi Viszeratan (still don't have a name for that...) and the (oh-so-boring) ball game, and me mentioning the terrorists and cops. That got us discussing this sort of idea, and how freaking tough it could be to pull off.

And ya, I didn't plan on putting a ton of thought into (a) character(s), but I'm working on a (seven-panel) comic for a contest that has a deadline of midnight tomorrow CST, and I only started on it a a week ago. Combine that with the fact that I haven't had much opportunity to work on it (there were several days this week that I didn't work on it at all) and that tonight I have a sleepover and tomorrow I'm going paintballing... my un-planned-away free time is already allocated to the comic until it's done, so ALL EP stuff (including Rain... *sniff*) is on hold until I finish the comic.

(Again, I'm having trouble with "social" writing today...)

Well, since characters are gonna be basic, I'll just put something here. Also, I'd like to be part of Immortalis.

Name: John Fenris
Codename: "Firestrike"
Age: 27
Weapon of choice: Shotgun
Info: Loves to blow things up, likes to see things burn. They wouldn't let him have a flamethrower, he got carried away once. But every once in a while, he loads his shotgun with incindiary shells.

Hope thats enough. You wanted simple, and I think this gives him a personality without going into his whole life story. Also, I'd be glad to make another if we don't have enough people.

I'll just use Kane's character sheet Razz I'll post it in here, but shouldn't we post characters in the regular character area?

Name: Vincenza Carapelli
Codename: "Cannis"
Age: 36
Weapon of Choice: 9mm Pistol
Info: Loves dogs, but can't have one: They make too much noise. She's one of the less devoted members of Propugnatoris, so she's usually followed by a few others to keep her in line.

Sign me up, this sounds like it wouldn't be as fun without me!

Name: Remorez Dugul
Codename: "Death"
Age: 16
Weapon of Choice: Scythe, Small Revolver
Info: The Immortalis' little assassin. Dubbed "Death" after he killed a high standing religous ambassador at the age of 12. He hates religion and anyone he deems unfit to hold a high power over the world and it's people.

Name: Mackenzie Avery
Codename: "Z"
Age: 22
Weapon of choice: m14 Rifle, 9mm pistol
Info: Very loyal to Marquis Jean-Paul III and would give her life to defend him in a heartbeat. She prefers stealth, but she is quite capable of taking people out the bloody way as well.

Alright, I've updated the original post. =)

I'm not sure if I'll require you to post a character sheet in the actual characters board or not; I might just have links to your short sheets in this post like I've done in the original post.

Then again, I might require you to post a character sheet. I'm not sure yet. =P

Gawrsh, people! For a while I was scared I was going to be forced into Immortalis! *chuckles* Not that I really care, but the characters below were originally envisioned as Propugnatoris agents.

I've been working on it on and off, and here's my first:

Name: Achilles (ah-SHEEL) Simon
Affiliation: Propugnatoris
Codename: Mr. Heel
Weapon of choice: He really likes spikes of all kinds: Throwing spikes; needles; long, thin darts; wrist-mounted, spring-loaded spikes, etc.
Info: See Above. Also, he's French of origin, which accounts for the pronunciation of his name. He hates chaotic battles, and is usually very calm and collected, though he often cracks bad jokes (though never at times when they could compromise the mission.)
