Astolorian Government - A puppet government, the legal leadership of most of Astoloria (North Astoloria...not sure about the South) has been almost entirely corrupted by Shin-Ra Corp., resulting in Shin-Ra having almost complete power.

AVALANCHE - A cloning facility funded by Shinra. It was Shinra's main center of genetic and JENOVA project research prior to being destroyed by very early rebels (Sky and Arty, essentially).

Consortium Cuore - I can't disclose the goals of the Cuore openly to anyone but staff members, but their current objective is to eliminate every Shin-Ra employee (except Ouka, who is also in the Cuore). All members have been close to death at least three times before or during their appearance in Astoloria.

Rebels - An organization which seeks to eliminate the corruption of the Astolorian Government and stop Shin-Ra's harmful production of Mako energy.

Shin-Ra - A power company that pretty much controls the government. They experiment with Mako energy, which kills the planet slowly, making the land barren and mutating normal animals into monsters.

SOLDIER - Shin-Ra's army of elite warriors who are infused with Mako energy. They all have glowing blue eyes and are only one step away from being monsters in most cases.

T.E.R.R.A. - A somewhat unknown organization, T.E.R.R.A. is a small branch within the Shin-Ra corporation. Despite being twice as large as the Turks, they're surprisingly more underground than any of Shin-Ra's branches. Although T.E.R.R.A. is a military branch, the agents it utilizes specialize in reconnaissances of Intel pertaining to highly important individuals and the recovery of lost priceless artifacts.

The Turks - A small group (of Shin-Ra employees) who does Shin-Ra's dirty work. They also are out to find the Ancients.

You could probably explain the rebels a bit better. Maybe...

And add the Astolorian Government:

A puppet government, the legal leadership of most of Astoloria ((at least the Northern Continent. Not sure about the South yet. Ask Sky in a week)) has been almost entirely corrupted by Shin-Ra Corp., resulting in Shin-Ra having almost complete power.

And maybe I'll think of something to say for demons...

Oh! You could add AVALANCHE, though it's defunct, I think, so I'd check with Sky or Arty for info.

What about sephiroth, he's practically a faction all of his own, though its membership has grown a little recently. He's certainly as threatening as the other groups.

And isn't the rebels effectively the replacement AVALANCHE.

I don't think so. I think AVALANCHE in Astoloria was more like what AVALANCHE before FFVII was. Not sure, though.

Technically they are part of Shin-Ra, but maybe a small excerpt on both SOLDIER and the Turks might be a good idea.

Strength of the Astolorian Government in the Southern Continent hasn't been revealed yet. And the fact that I'm honestly still fleshing out the Southern Continent...

AVALANCHE is actually a good point to make, as it can be a rather confusing one. AVALANCHE is (or rather, was) actually a Shinra subsidiary, specializing in genetic research in conjunction with the JENOVA project. It has been revealed that it is (or the data from the facility is) the source for most of the Strife family (specifically the ones that are native to Astoloria, like Vincet and Rain).

It appears that Sky may have originated there as well, but it is still cloudy and only appears in a Mako-induced hallucination.

I have committed the change about AVALANCHE. =)
